This 3D printed chassis comes in 3 types, Original (OG), Standard (ST) and Light Weight (LW). Each Chassis is fundamentally the same, but with slightly differing details, giving different rebuild options.
All of these chassis finally give you the chance to fit a modern long can motor, (you have to) and have the rear bearings set higher up on the chassis to lower the CofG. The rear body mounts have been strengthened and there has been a rear pocket added for the option of a rear body post, (sold separately in this listing). The front of the chassis has been built to fundamentally take the Slotting Plus guide, with a little reaming, but others will fit. The front axle holders have height adjustment via 4 M2 grub screws, so you can finally cancel out the nasty 'wibbley wobbly axle'. All chassis retain the front clip in tongue, as there is nothing wrong with that design and all the chassis retain the rear quarter clips, but with added strengtheners.
Original
This chassis is designed to be used when you want to keep the original look of the 70's model, that being, the ridiculously large wheels and tyres. The rear bearing holders are spread wider and higher in the chassis than OG to aid in axle stability and ride height. The front axle holder is tubeless and adjustable via grub screws and also spaced so no axle spacers are needed.
Wheels, Tyres, Axles, Bearings and Crown Gear can all be used from the original car.
Standard
This chassis is designed to be used when you want to improve the performance of your classic model. The rear bearings have been set higher in the chassis to lower the body to the point where 'normal' sized wheels and tyres can be used and have a slight 'tuck' under the rear arches. If using 'normal' 15.8mm wheels with 'normal' racing tyres, the wheels can be set to the full body width, giving you a tyre width of 60mm while keeping the arches as close as possible to the tyre. All upgraded hardware can be used all the way through the back end.
The front axle is housed in a brass tube that can be cut down to size to control axle end float. The axle height is adjusted with 4 M2 grub screws and are designed to 'pinch' the tube for easy wheel adjustment.
Light Weight
This option has all the same benefits of the Standard chassis, but has the floor reduced in height by 1mm internally. This does three things :-
1, Allows lead ballast to be mounted lower and thus lowering CofG.
2, Makes the chassis more flexible for better handling.
3, Makes the chassis 1.7g lighter for those that don't add weight.
Rear post fitment
All three chassis have the option of rear post fixing rather than using the rear quarter clips, as a screw pocket has been added. The rear post self locates and is to be glued to the underside of the body. When using the post on this 3D chassis, it has to be trimmed down to the wide part of the tube as this post is a shared part from the Scalextric plastic chassis repair kit. Comes with a fixing screw and sold as an extra in this listing, option D -F.
